Why 3D floor plan important in Building Automation

August 31, 2024

When providing building automation controls, avoid overly complex 3D floor plans that don't allow for clear visualization of Ice & Fire animations for zones. Instead, create a straightforward 3D floor plan with ample space for thermographic displays, minimizing distractions and focusing on functionality.

The primary goal is to use the 3D floor plan to effectively visualize zone comfort details, which helps the any person take prompt action to address any issues. Avoid overloading the floor plan with superfluous details like furniture, mechanical ducts, or decorative items.

When requesting a 3D floor plan, ensure it includes the following:

Large and clear zone sizes.
Zone temperature and setpoint tags.
Thermographic configuration for each zone: red for hot and blue for cold.
Controller offline status.
Keep your 3D floor plan simple and information-rich for the benefit of your customers.
